Christopher Samuelson and Sonaia Hermida, GOLEEN; and Milt and Judy, BLUEWATER, joined Carol & Gus, INDIGO; and Bernie Francis & Chris, MOANA KUEWA, for a Mexican food dinner on MOANA KUEWA. Bernie made his fabulous nachos and enchaladas. Chris made her special Mexican rice and mango salsa. Olay!

On 08/18/2007, Chris and Sonaia Hermida met Juan at Bellvre Castle , in the city of Palma, on Mallorca Island, Spain during an opening ceremony for an art festival. Juan was a photographer covering the event. He also owns Waelder Mallorca Advertising Agency that has a diverse business base of publications, web sites, and campaigns. Plus, Juan is an artist, sculptor, and writer. A very special friendship grew between Juan and Chris, and subsequently between Juan and Jeff. Juan did everything for the two of us to make our time in Mallorca one of the greatest lifetime memories of all time!

Bernie was Med Bound 2007 Technical Support from 2007.05.28-2007.07.13 and then MOANA KUEWA’s 1st Mate/Chief Engineer 2007.07.13– 2008.01.16. June was MOANA KUEWA’s crew September 28, 2007 – January 16, 2008. Besides being two of the most fabulous crew members anyone could ask for, a lifelong friendship grew. Bernie came onboard MOANA KUEWA at the start of Med Bound 2007 and joined Chris, Marty Ellison, Dave Plumb, and Mary Ann Edson-Plumb, for the crossing from Ft Lauderdale to Bermuda. Then Chris, Dave Plumb, and Mary Ann Edson-Plumb for the remaining trans-Atlantic crossing. After June’s arrival, Chris, Bernie, & June extensively explored Barcelona (especially all paths leading to Doner Kababs). Then, Bernie and June arranged a trip to Rome from 2008.11.27–2008.11.30 (thank you Mark & Brooke Phelps for monitoring MOANA KUEWA). They wanted to share their previous Roman experience with Chris (what great friends). Noone could have been better tour guides and companions! We walked until we dropped.

We were a STUPENDOUS Med Bound 2007 Rally team! Dave and Mary Ann pitched right in with the underway preparations. Dave concentrated on the anchoring and line set up (based upon the information about Med cruising that Scott Stickland, STRICKLY for FUN, provided – Scott was part of the North Atlantic Rally(NAR) in 2004 – very helpful). Mary Ann reorganized the galley and tackled the provisioning – she was a master. We enjoyed each other’s company, toured fabulous water and land-based locations, were complimentary in skill sets, and had a FABULOUS time doing it.

Dave & Mary Ann were a HUGE part of Chris’ life during her stay in Mazatlan, MEXICO, El Cid Marina, from 16NOV06 - 20DEC06. Dave and Mary Ann have been living onboard their sailboat, STARDANCER, for approximately six years. Luckily in 2007, they were wintering in Mazatlan which gave Chris a chance to spend a lot of time with them and the warm friendly boating community of El Cid. We toured, played “Mexican Train” by the pool-side and board games on board both boats, joined the group for holiday activities/potlucks, and enjoyed the beach-side restaurants by tender. Chris invited Dave & Mary Ann to join her as crew for the Med Bound 2007 trans-Atlantic crossing AND THEY ACCEPTED! Dave and Mary Ann joined Chris (and her visiting friends Evelyn & Laura Layton) on their 10th anneversary, 2008.05.10. We celebrated at the Black Fin & Ashley Restaurant in Stuart…what a GREAT way to welcome them to MOANA KUEWA. Traveled 4501 nautical miles together.
