TURKEY: Kemer Marina

Gökhan was visiting with his cousin, Vedat, in the resort town of Kemer when he met Chris & Jeff at the Roof Top Disco that overlooks the Kemer Marina. Everyone had such a good time dancing and talking that Chris & Jeff invited Gökhan, Vedat, and Ozkan to dinner on MOANA KUEWA two nights later. Chris & Jeff will visit with Gökhan in Izmir during their driving tour of Turkey during the first week of November 2008.

Abraham sailed the summer on his sailboat throughout the Medeterranian Coast of Turkey. He is taking life easy, enjoying the beauty of the sea, and meeting new American friends. He has a zest for life and many interesting stories.

GREECE: Mykonos Island, Mykonos Marina

When Chris was Vice President of Cherokee Information Services, Inc., she met Geoff through work. After many fabulouse dinners out around the Washington D.C. area, she was invited to join Geoff and his wife, Sue; plus two others to sail in the British Virgin Islands and then again in Tahiti. Both trips were FABULOUS and our friendship grew throughout the years…wow…Chris, Geoff, and Sue have been friends and sailing/cruising buddies for almost 20 years! The most recent visit was the last day of November 2008, when Chris spent the night at their spectacular home in Malibu, CA. They were kind enough to introduce Chris to Joe who may come on-board MOANA KUEWA while she is in Egypt. Joe and his wife is Milinda live in Saudi Arabia and are both excellent scuba divers that have extensively dove the Red Sea. They are planning on showing Chris & Jeff some of their favorite dive sites. Joe is also trying to arrange for Jeff and Chris to come over to Saudi Arabia to dive…hope…hope…hope.

CROATIA: Korčula Island, Korčula Wall

Participants: Andre & Wendy Soliman, ANDROMEDA, Nordhavn 62

To our delight, we saw a Nordhavn 62 on the other side of the wall when MOANA KUEWA pulled into Korčula late on Monday, 2008.08.25. It was dark and the owners of ANDROMEDA were out for dinner. We caught up to one another the next morning where we could only spend one hour together because Andre & Wendy were departing for Italy and then returning to Andorra, Spain. Chris was sad to learn that ANDROMEDA winters in Andorra, Spain; which is very close to Barcelona, where MOANA KUEWA wintered 2007/2008. It would have been nice to get to know each other better.

CROATIA:Vis Island,Komiža Anchorage

Participants: Saŝa & Siniŝa Ižakovič; Ivan Uroŝevič

After Siniša took Jeff on the 231 foot deep technical dive to view the sunken U.S. Air Force B17 off the south shore of Vis Island, Natasha & Siniša Ižalpvoć & Ivan came by MOANA KUEWA for cocktails. They brought a fabulous gift; a DVD of a previous dive to the well preserved WWII plane. Unfortunately, there was heavy surge on the wall and Natasha needed to make a short evening on the boat. Too bad, they were a great group and Jeff & Chris would have liked to get to know them better.
