AUSTRALIA Rosslyn Bay

Participants: Jo & Drew Wooler, Jeff, Corrine & Gabriel Gyuris

Jo & Drew own a catamaran, MOJO, that was designed and built by Drew. Jo uses the CAT as an art studio to display her sculptures and photographs. In addition, we were delighted to spend a little more time with Gabriel and Corrine before we departed Rosslyn Bay. The boating world is a very welcoming place.

MOANA KUEWA was greeted by Gabriel after he assisted with the lines when we arrived at Rosslyn Bay Keppal Bay Marina. After a quick tour of the yacht, Gabriel invited us to his fabulous home for dinner that very night! His hospitable offer was even extended to the technician, Steve, who flew from Brisbane to isolate and fix the Furuno Satellite Compass. He and Corrine have a fabulous custom-built home with an infinity pool built on a hill side in Emu Park. The next day, Gabriel, Corrine and Sebastian stopped by MOANA KUEWA on their way to their sailboat that was up the dock. Sebastian had to see every area and we talked about the Egyptian Tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. His twin sister thinks she is an expert on Egypt and Tutankhamun. When he talked about the curse if you enter the tomb, we were able to talk to him about the harmful mold that grew inside the closed tomb because the paint was not dry when the young king died. It is theorized that this mold killed the explorers who first openned the tomb. Now, he knew something his sister did not! BTW the paintings are still vibrant, beautiful, and in-place. This is another example of the wonderful hospitality of the Australian people. Jeff and I LOVE Australia!

AUSTRALIA Lady Musgrave Island

Participants: George Brown & Melinda Lamb

George (an American) and Melinda (English) custom built catamaran, DEDALUS, was MOANA KUEWA’s neighbor on the Dockwise ship Super Servant 3. MOANA KUEWA and DEDALUS were off-loaded in Brisbane on 02 FEB 2010 and we cruised up the Brisbane River together to the Rivergate Marina. Then, MOANA KUEWA AND DEDALUS was guided by our knowledgeable new friend, John Shuttlewood, through the shallow river system between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. George & Melinda, Jeff & Chris socialized a lot during the weather hold in Southport. Then, DEDALUS arrived in Mooloolaba Yacht Marina and docked directly behind MOANA KUEWA. In Mooloolaba, we again we all got together for exploration and socialization on both boats. We spent eight days together at anchor in Lady Musgrave Island Atoll – yes, we were again on weather hold. However, our daily interaction with George and Melinda made the eight days great fun with lively conversation, scuba diving, fine dining, and Mexican Train board games. DEDALUS & MOANA KUEWA again cruised together from Lady Musgrave Island to Northwest Island; then, from Northwest Island to Great Keppel Island. Melinda made a delightful farewell dinner on DEDALUS. We probably will not see them again until November.

Yes, you read this correctly. MOANA KUEWA is officially “for sale.” Our primary sales person is Don Lees, the person to Chris’ right. He will be working closely with Peter Devers and David Flynn. They are a great team and are full of personality. It will be a pleasure working with them and hopefully MOANA KUEWA will be sold by November 2010 with delivery taking place in December after Jeff & Chris complete their South Pacific adventure.
